Back to School Night 2014
I would like to invite you to our Back to School Night this Thursday, September 18th. We will begin with an important PTA Meeting in the MPR at 6:30 pm. At this time we will introduce all of our teachers and make some special announcements regarding the coming year.
Classroom sessions will start at 7:00 pm and be repeated at 7:30 pm.
This night is for parents only as you will be receiving a lot of detailed information from your classroom teachers. Please make alternate arrangements for children, as the classes will be crowded with parents and children cannot be elsewhere on campus without your direct supervision.
Kindergarten parents please note that Mrs. Hess’s K/1 class will cover 1st grade at the 7 pm session and Kindergarten at the 7:30 pm session. Kindergarten teachers Mrs. Taylor and Mrs. Rees will be available at 7 pm for parents who missed the Kindergarten Welcome on August 28th.
Mrs. Dinkel, our RSP teacher, will meet with parents of RSP students from 6:00pm to 6:30 pm in Room P 10 on the lower campus to explain her program.
Remember, teachers will not have time for individual conferences on this night, but you may make arrangements to contact them at a better time.
I look forward to seeing you on Thursday night!

Hot Weather Procedures
The staff at Glenknoll is carefully monitoring the current hot weather advisories and air quality due to the Silverado brush fires. We follow the recommendations of the Orange County Department of Education "Hot Weather Guidelines for Schools", which you can review at:
We also receive alerts regarding air quality. South Coast Air Quality Management District is the air pollution control agency for all of Orange County. You can view our local SCAQMD current air quality index at:
If Air Quality Index (AQI) or the Heat Index (HI) reach an unhealthful stage, outdoor student activity is reduced or eliminated based upon the guidelines and local observations. Additional precautions may include students being moved from the blacktop to grassy areas, be restricted from strenuous activity, or even kept indoors, depending upon the severity of the weather and air quality conditions.
